'King Richard' is made from pressed premium grapes that are carefully handpicked from this lovely vineyard in Rothley, Leicestershire. Nestled within the historic grounds of Rothley Temple, where King Richard III once travelled from Nottingham castle to Leicester prior to the Battle of Bosworth, their grapes are grown with the utmost care and attention to detail.
This Sauvignon Blanc-style wine, aptly named in honour of King Richard III, boasts a beautiful lemon colour with delicate hints of gold. The aroma is a delightful blend of lemon zest, honey and pear, while the taste is a harmonious combination of juicy pear, tropical guava, and sweet honey, with just a hint of fennel. The aftertaste is a refreshing melon flavour with a touch of white pepper.
This English wine is well-balanced and fresh, making it a versatile choice that pairs well with a wide range of dishes. It complements fish, all cheeses, Parma ham, rich fish dishes, tofu, mushroom dishes, South East Asian dishes, and root vegetables. Very much fit for a king!
